Milford, PA (February 3, 2014) – On March 26, Pike County will turn 200 years old. To mark the occasion, a grand celebration is being held that day at Woodloch Resort in Lakawaxen Twp. Starting with a cocktail hour from 6-7 p.m., the evening will include a sit-down dinner and a showcase of interesting aspects of the county’s history, people, places and events in a variety show format. It will also include a special musical performance by The Dixins. George Roberts, Senior Anchorman of Channel 13 News, is hosting the event.

Tickets for the banquet are $50 per person and can be purchased by contacting the Pike County Historical Society at 570-296-8126 or pikemuse@ptd.net.

“I am having the best time planning this event,” said Lori Strelecki, Director of the Pike County Historical Society. “It is a pleasure to work with these great people, and I know the evening will be enjoyed by all in attendance. It’s not your typical banquet by any means, but that is only because Pike is not your typical county,” said Strelecki.

Musical guests The Dixins are comprised of Terri Dixon, Jane Mangini and Sandy Bookey. Dixon is also the musical director for the event, and has put together a lineup of musical interludes, including a rendition of the long lost song “Honor to Our Troops.” This particular song was scheduled to be performed at Ford’s Theater on April 14, 1865 by Laura Keene and Jennie Gourlay in tribute to President Lincoln. The song was never heard that night due to the unfortunate events that unfolded. Dixon is the band’s vocalist, with Bookey on drums and Mangini, who is a long-time member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, on keyboard.

Presenters include Jim Levell, George Fluhr, Sandy Long, Darren Fouse and State Representative Rosemary Brown, with a special address by Senator Lisa Baker in recognition of the county’s 200th anniversary.

The event will be a night of music and history with a dash of humor according to Strelecki, who organized the celebration on behalf of the Pike County Commissioners. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased through the historical society at 570-296-8126 or pikemuse@ptd.net.
