Tri-State Historical Exhibition Being Planned Local Historical Societies Banding Together to Celebrate Tri-state Area’s Rich History

Milford, PA (February 17, 2014) – Several local historical groups joined together recently to plan a grand exhibition of historical artifacts and photographs related to the tri-state area. Participants were: the Matamoras-Westfall Historical Society, Minisink Valley Historical Society, Town of Deerpark Museum, Montague Association for the Restoration of Community History (MARCH), and Pike County Historical Society. The exhibition will be held at Riverview Inn, 400 Shay Lane, Westfall on the weekend of April 12th and 13th. The event is made possible through a grant received from Orange and Rockland Utilities.

In connection with the Pike County bicentennial celebration, Lori Strelecki, Museum Director for the Pike County Historical Society, will bring the Hiawatha Stage Coach to the exhibition.

Committee spokesman, William Clark, said that representatives from each of the historical societies are extremely enthusiastic about the project. The exhibition has great prospects for growing in the future and bringing together the rich history of the tri-state area. It will be a big boost for local pride and tourism, according to Clarke. Further details of the exhibit will be made available as the planning progresses.

“Noel’s association with the Historical Society dates back over 30 years,” said Lori Strelecki, Museum Director of 14 years. “Her hard work and dedication is evident in just about every way it can be in a library and research facility. I recognize her distinct style of neat, concise printing on newspaper clippings in our obituary card catalog file, on our bookshelves, and in our family files every day. I am so very thankful to have had our library and archives benefit from her work. She laid the groundwork and disciplines, which we still follow today in our quest to document our county’s history. I am proud to have learned so much from such a delightful woman and avid professional.  She will be missed dearly.”
