Fruitie Award Winning Play Comes to Water Wheel Café to Raise Funds for Preservation
Please join us at the Water Wheel Café on Saturday, March 21st for an award winning play titled For the Benefit of Miss Jennie Gourlay, which was written, and is performed, by seasoned Broadway veteran Billy Hipkins.
Winner at the Fresh Fruit Festival for “best one man performance”, as well as “best historical piece” at the United Solo Film Festival, Hipkins draws his inspiration from history and the story of a forgotten young stage actress who witnessed the assassination of President Lincoln.
“The play is funny and touching, as well as educational, and is very well done. You will leave having learned something, and we guarantee you will enjoy it!” said Lori Strelecki, Museum Director of PCHS. The play will be presented following a delicious “Lincolnesque” dinner and proceeds go towards the preservation of Miss Gourlay’s stage costumes, which are housed at the Columns Museum.
Tickets are $60 and can be obtained by calling 570-296-8126
